                                         ANQ RANKING LISTS

These rankings have been compiled by Athletics North Queensland for the Association’s own purposes. While every care has been taken in their preparation no responsibility for their accuracy is accepted. Updates and amendments should be advised direct to the ANQ office in Townsville. Only ANQ registered athletes are eligible to be ranked.

The ANQ Ranking Lists conform to the age groups, implement weights, hurdle heights and race distances specified by Athletics Australia and are comparative to ranking lists kept in other states.

 The rankings cover the  current calendar year.

Athletes younger than 12 years are not ranked.

 Age groups are calculated as at 31 December in the year of competition with the exception of the  Masters whose age is age on the day of competition.

Athletes aged 12 and 13 years are ranked as Under 14.

Athletes aged 14 and 15 years are ranked as Under 16.

Athletes aged 16 and 17 years are ranked as Under 18.

Athletes aged 18 and 19 years are ranked as Under 20.

Where an under age athlete competes in another age group or the open age group that particular performance is ranked  in the age group in which they competed.

When an athlete is dual registered (Little Aths and ANQ) only performances achieved while representing the ANQ section of their club are eligible for  the rankings.

Where  Dual Affiliated Clubs conduct carnivals in which events  up to Under 15 years conform to the specifications laid down by Little Athletics there are some variations in throwing implement weights, hurdles and walks. Only those events that conform to the Athletics Australia’s specifications are ranked.

Events effected are: 

Men Under 14 Shot Put—Athletics Australia’sweight is 3kg—Little A’s Under 14 is 4kg and cannot be ranked.

Men Under 16 Javelin---Athletics Australia’s weight  is 700gm—Little A’s Under 15 is 600gm and cannot be ranked.

Women Under 14 Discus---Athletics Australia’s weight is 1kg—Little A’s Under 13 is 750gm and cannot be ranked.

Women Under 14  Javelin—Athletics Australia’s weight 400gm—Little A’s Under 14 is 600gm and cannot be ranked.

Women Under 16 Shot Put—Athletics Australia’s weight is 4kg—Little A’s Under 15 is 3kg and cannot be ranked.

Men  Under 14 Hurdles----Athletics Australia’s distance is 90 Metres—Little A’s 12 Years is 80 Metres and cannot be ranked.

Mens Under 16 100 Metres Hurdles-----Athletics Australia’s height is 84cm----Little A’s 14 Years height is 76cm and cannot be ranked.

Clubs should also note that to be ranked the 200m Hurdles must be conducted over 10 flights at a height of 76cm.
