2008 MacAir Airlines ANQ Development Squad Information

2008 will be a big year in Athletics, as it is the year of the Olympic Games in Beijing, China creating increased participation in Athletics all over the world. Athletics North Queensland (ANQ) is proud to announce MacAir Airlines as the sponsor of the MacAir Airlines ANQ 2008 Development Squad, making this year the third consecutive year MacAir Airlines have supported this elite Squad.

Each year the MacAir Airlines ANQ Development Squad consists of ANQ registered athletes who have reached a specified level within their chosen event in the sport of Athletics and aims to identify athletes aged 10 years and above as being future State, National and International level representatives.

Benefits

• Development Squad sessions conducted throughout the season in your regional area by the Northern Queensland Development Officer (sessions include; stretching, warm up drills, speed and endurance work, technical coaching, agility, standing and crouch starts, fitness testing and the opportunity to compare your results to the norm, and fun games that focus on improving fitness and motor learning ability).
• Access to coaching clinics/camps presented by Australia’s elite coaches (you will be required to pay a fee for these clinics/camps).
• Meet other high performing athletes in your region.

Application Process

• Be at least 10 years of age
• Be a current registered athlete with an ANQ affiliated club
• Achieve the Qualifying Standard at an ANQ or AA ratified competition or a competition which is acceptable to ANQ Education Commission OR Achieve the Qualifying Standard at a Club competition where the performance can be ratified by at least two (2) club officials. PLEASE NOTE: Qualifying performances will be counted in the 12 months prior to the date your application is received. Acceptance into the Development Squad is from the date of acceptance through to the conclusion of the competition year. Example: John’s application was received by ANQ on 30th May 2008. Therefore John’s qualifying performances must have been achieved between 1st June 2007 and 30 May 2008. Upon acceptance John will be a 2008 MacAir Airlines Development Squad Member until the conclusion of the 2008 competition season.”
• Submit a completed application form to the ANQ office.

Make sure that you are eligible to be a part of the 2008 MacAir Airlines ANQ Development Squad and meet the Qualifying Standards, then complete an Application Form and send to ANQ. You will then be notified via a letter if you are successful in becoming a member of this exciting Squad in 2008! Be quick to send your application form in and don’t worry if you haven’t yet qualified, you will have the opportunity at many Competitions throughout the season to qualify and then apply for the Squad.
