2008 ANQ OzSquad Camp Information

OzSquad is North Queensland's premier regional Athletics’ camp, held annually over a five day period in Townsville during the September school holidays. Athletes from the ages of 12 to 20 will be invited by Athletics North Queensland to attend the Camp based on their outstanding performances and results throughout the 2008 season.

This year is the thirteenth year the OzSquad Camp has been running and the Camp will be held from Saturday September 20th to Wednesday September 24th. Athletes will be coached by Australia’s top qualified coaches, who will be flown in for this highly reputable live-in Camp. These coaches are level IV and V qualified and are currently some of the leading national coaches in Australia, having coached athletes to represent Australia in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, past World Masters Championships, World Junior Championships and even past Olympic Games.

As well as coaching sessions at the Townsville Sports Reserve, athletes will be provided with many informative activities off the track, with an elite athlete guest speaker as well as specialists in the fields of physiotherapy, sports nutrition and sports psychology presenting valuable information to athletes. Athletics North Queensland looks forward to the continued success of the highly reputable OzSquad Camp.

Application Process

Please note athletes do not apply for the ANQ OzSquad Camp, but they are invited by Athletics North Queensland to attend the Camp. There is a fee involved to attend the camp. To be invited to the 2008 ANQ OzSquad Camp, an athlete must:
  • Be aged from 12 years to 20 years
  • Be a current registered athlete with an ANQ affiliated club
  • Be a current MacAir Airlines ANQ Development Squad member
  • Achieve outstanding performances and results throughout the 2008 season
