NQ Championships
Date: 24th – 26th September 2021
Location: Townsville
The North Queensland Championships continues to be the Premier Regional Athletics Championships in Australia. In 2021, we have over 700 athletes competing for athletes of all ages and abilities, the biggest it has ever been. Athletes will be travelling from all aspects of Queensland – Gold Coast to the Cape and as far west as Mount Isa, including a large number from one of the most remote clubs in Australia – Normanton Athletics.  A large number of athletes are also travelling across from the Northern Territory. States in attendance are members from NT, NSW, QLD, NZL, Pacific Islands and TAS.
This event is open to all ages and abilities who are members of Athletics North Queensland, Queensland Athletics or another Athletics Australia or World Athletics members.
The cancellation of the Queensland School Sport 10–19-year State Championships and the multiple Regional School Sports carnivals in recent weeks has left a major hole in the school athletics track and field pathway. As a result, Athletics North Queensland has also allowed school sports athletes the opportunity to become an ANQ base member and compete at the 2021 North Queensland Championships. The inclusion of all ages, abilities and school athletes is a first of its kind in Australia for a Championships event.
For those athletes, officials and supporters who attended the 2021 NQ Championships in Townsville over the 24 to 26 September 2021 we advise that the Queensland Government has declared Townsville at a High-Risk Impacted Area, and we encourage you to make yourself aware of the restrictions currently in place for those who were in Townsville during this period. Information can be found the the Queensland Government’s website at https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/public-health-directions/restrictions-impacted-areas
