NQ Championships
Date: 23rd – 25th September 2022
Location: Townsville Sports Precinct
The North Queensland Championships continues to be the Premier Regional Athletics Championships in Australia. In 2021, we had over 700 athletes competing for athletes of all ages and abilities, the biggest it has ever been. Athletes will be traveling from all areas of Queensland – Gold Coast to the Cape and as far west as Mount Isa, including a large number from one of the most remote clubs in Australia – Normanton Athletics. A large number of athletes are also traveling from a range of states and territories across Australia and the Oceania Region.
This event is open to all ages and abilities who are members of Athletics North Queensland, Queensland Athletics or other Athletics Australia or World Athletics members.
For the first time, a North Queensland team will compete at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships. As a result of this, school-based athletes are now eligible to compete at these championships.
The Australian All Schools Athletics Championships is the pinnacle event for secondary school-based athletes across the country. Each year we see around 1000 athletes across the states and territories of Australia compete and showcase their abilities.
School base athletes can participate in either and/or both the QLD 13-19 School State Championships or North Queensland Championships to qualify for the National All School Championships. Refer to the selection criteria on ANQ teams page for more details.
