Here at Red Earth Running we aspire to promote running through the organisation of regular running activities across the beautiful Atherton Tablelands and support other organisations in Far North Queensland who have objectives similar to our own.
We hold three training sessions each week consisting of a combination of Interval Training, Hill Repeats, Tempo runs and long-distance runs.
Set up in 2018 by Luke Muccignat and Om Beacom-Halliday, Red Earth Running started as a couple of guys who wanted to run through the majestic scenery of the Atherton Tablelands with a few mates. This enthusiastic pair shared a passion for distance running, especially trails of which The Tablelands has many. Luke, a Mutchilba local, set up a regular track session on Tuesdays, and this captured the interest of others who wanted to improve fitness (and Parkrun times!) and meet other runners. After a couple of months of bounding around the track and with a growing interest within the casual running group, Thursdays became hill repeats and tempo sessions, and Sunday mornings saw runners gather in different locations around the Tablelands each week for social long runs and barbecue breakfasts. This weekly structure of three sessions a week has remained the primary focus of Red Earth Running to this day
