Rockhampton Road Runners is a club that values its members and encourages runners of all ages and their families. The club is affiliated with Athletics North Queensland.
Thursday Night Club Runs
Every Thursday evening, 5:30pm for a 5:40pm start, Huish Drive near the children’s playground, bbq tables, and toilets. The distances range from 3km to 6km or anything in between. These runs are very social so bring your dog to walk, bring your family, bring a work colleague/friend, or just bring yourself! They are perfect runs for those new to running. Some of our more competitive runners use this as a hard hit-out, tempo session.
Tuesday night Track
Held at the CQU oval at 6.00pm, please arrive early for a warm-up as track sets start at 6pm. These session go for between 45min – 1 hour. There are many people attending of all different fitness levels so you do not have be a “fast runner” to attend, just someone who is looking to improve.
Rocky “Rookie” Road Runners Sessions
Held on Monday afternoons at 5:20pm for a 5:30pm start. Participants meet at the Huish Drive playground and typically complete one or two laps of the riverside walk. It is self-paced, but experienced runners are on hand to offer advice and assist with individual training objectives. Participation is free, although those who regularly attend are encouraged to become members of the Road Runners club for insurance purposes
Saturday Morning Long Run
Saturday mornings, 4:50am for a 5:00am start at Degani’s Cafe/Bakery, Glenmore Shopping Village, Farm Street (near IGA). This workout is self-select distance and is a slow, aerobic workout. This run focusses on time rather than distance run. Times range from 1.5 hours to 3 hours.
Sunday Night Recovery Run
Sunday afternoons, 4:45pm for a 5:00pm start in the Queens Park Car Park, beside the train bridge. These runs are 1 hour in duration. The pace is usually about 4:30 – 5min/km but can vary depending on how everyone is feeling!
