Athletics North Queensland, in conjunction with Athletics Australia and Queensland Athletics is thrilled to announce that for the first time in history of the competition, a North Queensland team will compete at the Australian All Schools Championships.
The Australian All Schools Championships is the pinnacle event for secondary school-based athletes across the country. Each year we see around 1000 athletes across the states and territories of Australia compete and showcase their abilities.
Shane Watson, President of Athletics North Queensland welcomes this expansion of the Australian All School Championships.
“With such a dispersed population of school-aged athletes across Queensland, this initiative provides those athletes and their families living in regional and remote areas to have an alternative pathway to State and National level competitions, that previously may have been restricted through distance and cost.”
The North Queensland team will be selected based off the top 2 placings from the U14-U18 age groups at the North Queensland Championships, held between 23rd – 25th September in Townsville. A limited competition membership has been created to ensure school athletes, not connected to clubs, can participate at the North Queensland Championships.
School base athletes can participate in either and/or both the QLD School State 13-19yr Championships or North Queensland Championships to qualify for the Australian All School Championships. Refer to the selection criteria on the ANQ North Queensland Team page for more details.
Nominations are now open for the North Queensland Championships
