Robyn’s Retirement
Friday 30th October will mark the end of an era for Athletics North Queensland, when a stalwart of the organisation, Robyn Potts retires. It is with obvious sadness we make this announcement, but with complete adoration for the service Robyn has given the sport and Athletics North Queensland.
Robyn started with Athletics North Queensland as a volunteer in 1998 during the foundation years of the establishment of the association. At that time, she was heavily involved in her children’s chosen sports of Athletics and Hockey. Like most volunteers in our sport, Robyn took on many different roles to assist to run the sport, including being President of Blue Water Athletics for 10 Years.
Robyn started paid employment with ANQ in 2005. Since then she has taken on a range of roles in the office based around club administration, membership and her passionate portfolio of events. She was the first person in the office to start transferring from all paper records to more electronic setups, and has been an asset in progressing grass root clubs to easier technology systems.
Though Robyn was a paid staff member, she still heavily volunteered her time to the association and clubs to help grow the sport. This allowed her to build strong bonds with most people in the athletics community that still to this day is strong. Robyn was awarded Life Membership of Athletics North Queensland in 2012. Her unbelievable dedication and work ethic in the office will be sorely missed. Her work has assured our success into the next century.
Athletics North Queensland wishes Robyn all the best in your retirement years and looks forward to working with her as a volunteer official for many years to come.
