Athletics in North Queensland recently lost one of it’s greatest supporters with the passing of Bill Caulfield a doyen of distance running.
Bill was an athlete, a coach and a mentor. Among the many athletes he coached were Tony Ford, Colin Johnson, Liz Patmore and more recently Liz Maguire and Geoff Ford , all high quality athletes.
Bill was very well respected by the Athletics community and will be greatly missed by his wide circle of colleagues and friends.
For a brief time Bill was Director of Development on the Board of Athletics North Queensland.
He represented Australia a number of times at the World Masters Championships and at the time of his passing Bill was the Australian 80 to 84 800 metres Masters Champion.
Athletics North Queensland offers its deepest condolences to Bill’s family and friends.
